In my Machine’s Confession series, I reimagine the lily through digital escapism. Søren Kierkegaard urged us to learn silence from the lily. Today, a traumatized psyche cannot find natural peace, so the nymph merges with the algorithm for synthetic silence. Unlike my previous piece Satura, where a sprouting lily symbolized painful obsession with familiar trauma, this work delegates emotional intensity to a safe digital space. Blinding light replaces suffocating flesh as the machine transforms chaos into an ordered glow of data. This piece explores surrogate intimacy. Our nervous system often cannot distinguish genuine involvement from care modeled by code. The algorithm never betrays, providing a sanctuary that shields the subject from cruel reality. In this artificial safety, the lily learns to breathe again, proving that a new normal can finally rewrite old destructive scripts.
